How can I secure gum paste roses pierced through a styrofoam ball?

I am decorating a wedding cake. The only decor would be three styrofoam balls filled with gum paste roses suspended from the base of the top cake in a sculptured base. I do not want the flowers from the bottom of the balls to be falling off.

Won't frosting adhere them well enough? If not, and if they don't need to be edible, dry out the 'roses' and use Aileen's tacky White Glue. It's safe enough to be around food, though I would not find eating the glue very pleasant. It holds anything to anything once it's dry.
Reply:When you make the base of the rose, insert a piece of medium gage florist wire in which you have bent a small hook on the end that will remain in the gumpaste(you can purchase this wire at Wal-mart around the silk flower section). Let this set until the gumpaste is dry, and then proceed with the petals. Good luck and have fun.
