How can I make my roses last longer?

The roses I got from Valentine's Day are about to wilt, is there anyway to keep them alive? What can I do next time to make them last longer???

How can I make my roses last longer?
cut the stems diagonally UNDERWATER in a bucket... then put them in a vase with water immediately. Pour in 2 ounces of SPRITE OR 7UP (not diet) The sugar in the soda will feed the flowers and keep them nice for up to 10 days longer.
Reply:A lot of times the roses I've gotten at Valentine's aren't quite in top shape to start (loads of rose sales going on, so they get rushed). I'd trim them up and give them fresh water/flower powder. But nothing you've done caused them to wilt! :)
Reply:When you get them cut about an inch off the bottom of the stem then place them in the water. The stores sell a powder that will feed your flower and make it last longer. I believe that a single aspirin dissolved will help
Reply:Put a penny in the vase. The copper prolongs the life of flowers.
Reply:Next time, do not expose the roses to wind / gusts of air (like electric fan, aircon, etc.)
