How do I breed a color between roses?
In General, you need to cross pollinate the flowers, let the flower go to seed and then raise the seedlings.

Grafting roses does not create a new color, the stem that is grafted to the rootstock will remain the same color it started, and other stalks from stock will be the original root stock color.

Breeding roses is a complex and long-term process that may take several years before you even see a bloom, let alone a result you want. I would suggest going to Amazon.com and/or look up your local rose growers association and see if they have any reading material on rose propagation, especially crossbreed for new colors.

I don't want to discourage you at all, just be aware that breeding plants, epecially for something like specific colors, has a high commitment factor
Reply:cross pollinate?

lol
Reply:plant two different types of seeds together
Reply:Don't know, but check out the Burpee website
Reply:yup, i agree with the second answer..read about Mendel the monk, he cross bred flowers...
Reply:Since they can't grow from the seeds they produce, I think you graft branches to produce a new color.

You may have to read up more on the technique but basically you slice a branch and make a cut in the plant being grafted. You bond the parts together (this alone is an art) and if they thrive and survive you can have a new color which will bloom in the graft.
Reply:ask Gregor Mendel hehe - read about his work
Reply:As long as the are the same variety you could try putting pollen from a rose of a certain colour onto one of a different colour.
Reply:Well, one was is, you can get a white rose and...

1. Put food coloring water in a vase

2. Put the white roses in the vase,

and your roses should be whatever color the food coloring was.
