How can I tell if my miniature roses are wilting because of too much water or not enough?

The leaves are droopy and floppy, not dry and crunchy so it makes me think I have watered too much. What are some good guidelines for watering mini roses?

check the condition or the roots by carefully tipping the plant out of its pot, you should see plenty of healthy roots.

dead roots are brown an may seem wiry

live roots are yellow, Orange or white and plumper.

if you see few live roots, the plant has probably been kept too wet,

droopy leaves also may occur in plants that are being exposed to very cool temperatures.

if the plants are moved to where it is a little warmer and they perk up then that may be the problem.

roses can handle it quite cold so i wouldn't necessarily recommend moving them to a warm location.

make sure they are not sitting in water,

make sure the water is not just running through when you water,

fertilize with a water soluble feed 1/4 strength once a month in winter.

give them some Epsom salts in the spring to deepen their leaf color.
Reply:Keep the water level a little less then half... Perfect amount for flowers.
Reply:In the winter, it may not need water but 2-3 times a month. If you're unsure, dig down about halfway between the side of the pot and the stem...stick your finger in. If it's moist an inch down, don't water yet even if the surface is dry. Also, start lifting the pot to get used to how it feels when it's just been watered, and when it's dry. Sometimes you can tell by the "heft" if it needs water - it feels "light".

In the growing season - spring and summer, it will need water more often.
Reply:you can buy a moister meter, miniature roses don,t like constint wet feet, so slow down on your watering, it will also make a differinets if they are in a pot or the grond.
