Is it possible for roses to grow in nj in the middle of winter?

i was at my aunt's house for thanksgiving and in her front yard four roses were growing..not blooming...growing, My cousin says its because something is wrong with the ecoysytem..but my aunt and I think its like a symbol of something.... what do you think? No stoopid remarks please

Is it possible for roses to grow in nj in the middle of winter?
Yes of course it is, in a warm climate like that your rose bushes would grow like weeds.
Reply:In mild winters yes it happens obviously. But in normal New Jersey winters it is doubtful they would. Due to global warming, our weather is changing all over the world.
Reply:thanksgiving in NJ is still not too late for a few roses to bloom...I am in mass and we still have a few late bloomers here too....no mystery...just warm weather so far...it is no where the middle of winter yet.
Reply:Dunno what it means, but I have 4 rose bushes in front of my house and they are all in full bloom right now.
Reply:if your temps have not gotten down below 25 degrees this year, it would not be unusual. I have had roses blooming at Christmas before, and no, not just since global warming became a problem, several years ago. In Michigan. They will grow and bloom as long as the weather stays mild. Another reason for not pruning roses until spring.
Reply:I live in S. Jersey EHT and I have a rose bush that has a budded flower. They just grow a lot slower in the colder months. They never really die all the way back, here anyway.
Reply:Yes they grow year around and i have seen one blooming just last week here in Keyser wv
