Is it possible to grow black roses?

I love red roses, especially the ones that are a really dark crimson before they fully bloom. It made me wonder natural black roses can be grown.

Is it possible to grow black roses?
Black is a euphemism for a very dark red rose. There are many of these and some of them have the word 'black' in their name (i.e. Black Prince, Black Ice, Black Jade). However, they are not truly black

The rose most resembling the color black is the Black Baccara and it is STUNNING! It is more of a dark blueberry or blackberry color, than black. Check out the link I've provided to see a picture and some facts.
Reply:Glad to help. I am particularly fond of roses, but love all flowers. Report It

Reply:Apparently rose breeders have been trying to do it for many years. The tulip growers have got close but not quite there yet :D
Reply:I'm sure I have seen seeds in catalogues for roses that look black, (may not be black in close up). Have you tried asking at a good garden centre?

If not, I've found a site that sells almost black rose plants:

Good luck!
Reply:idk but y would u want to r u emo
Reply:well if you mean real black and not dark brown then it is a yes and there are 2 ways of doing it

a, commercially a the plants of roses are regularly fed fith a mixure of fertilisers, gp %26amp; fp hormones, a dye and titanium dioxide (to fix the colour also used in jello, non milk icecreams ) the roses are real black . i have tryed it and it works . but!!!! if the pigment is not fed then we get the real colour... and the plant dies in 6 to 12 months.

B) the real black rose has been archived by some scientists using modified DNA and tissue culture . the rose is midnight black and it is real ; but very expensive today (100 $ for a pair)

the price will come down soon
Reply:the variety of rose called "black" is not really black. They are a deep dark red. your answer is no.
Reply:of couse yes... red ones are not the only roses.. visit ooty in india to see the varied coloured rose...white..black...crimson red..
Reply:well if you take a grown white flower and cut it at the stem then put it in colord water aftwer a while it starts turnin into that color so i guess all you need is a white rose and cut it at the stem then put it in some water with black food coloring (if you can find some) then put it in
Reply:You can always drop black ink colouring... it might work...
Reply:No, only very dark red. They do have lavender roses now. So maybe eventually they will be able to grow black ones.
Reply:Yes..
Reply:no
Reply:No. but if you want to give a black rose to someone then give a white rose with a black ribbon tied to its stem.
